Abstract
As recently as the beginning of the 30th century, conventional wisdom still assumed an unchanging, static universe with no beginning, no end. Then in 1916 Albert Einstein, relying on little more than mathematics and his own profound intuition, came up with the implications of what would be known as the big bang. But Einstein resisted and meteorologist, who followed through and proposed a model of an expanding universe.
